Katrina Cain: ‘Gold’ EP

KATRINA CAIN WEAVES

TAPESTRY OF SOUND IN DEBUT EP GOLD

Katrina Cain's debut EP, Gold, released in April 2024, represents a significant milestone in her musical journey, showcasing a diverse blend of Americana, pop-country anthems, and more.

This EP is the culmination of three years of work across four cities, highlighting Cain's dedication to finding her unique sound. Drawing inspiration from Joni Mitchell and Shania Twain, Cain offers listeners a rich tapestry of songs that explore various facets of her musical identity.

The EP features standout tracks like “New Mercedes,” with pedal steel contributions from Nashville's Philippe Bronchtein, along with other unique songs that showcase Cain's versatile artistry. With Gold, Cain invites listeners on a personal journey of discovery, resilience, and belonging, all while paying homage to her Texan roots and the eclectic influences that have shaped her sound.

Beyond the musical landscape painted by Gold, Cain's journey encapsulates a narrative of growth, exploration, and the search for a place to call home. This EP not only charts her musical evolution but also mirrors her physical journey across the United States, weaving the textures of LA, Austin, Nashville, and Denton, Texas, into a cohesive sound. The process of recording remotely and collaborating with musicians in different cities speaks to the modern era of music production, highlighting Cain's adaptability and commitment to her art.

Cain shares here excitement with, “the release of my debut EP, Gold, is a culmination of 3 years of work in 4 different cities: LA, Austin, Nashville, and Denton, Texas. The greatest gift to independent musicians has been the ability to record remotely, which made this record possible to record during a cross-country move from LA back to Texas, and through sourcing session players in other cities. I'm so excited to finally share this years-long project with you all!”

Gold stands as a testament to her journey, offering listeners a glimpse into the heart of an artist dedicated to melding diverse influences into a unique sonic experience.
