Jenna Feeney: “If Angels Lived in Nashville”

Jenna Feeney’s New Single weaves

heartache and hope

into a soul-stirring anthem

Jenna Feeney’s new heartfelt single, “If Angels Lived In Nashville,” poignantly explores grief, loss, and longing. Feeney sings of a bittersweet reunion between her and a lost loved one in Nashville, Tennessee. Touching hearts and tugging tears, “If Angels Lived In Nashville” is a beautiful composition that resonates with people who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

The opening verse sets the stage by placing the listener in the setting of Nashville using the imagery of “Honky Tonk”, “Neon Lights”, and lively streets. Feeney juxtaposes this setting with the grief of not being able to experience it anymore with the person she lost. Filling the chorus of the song with questions she would ask and questions of what it would be like to have them there with lyrics like,

Would we laugh like the old days would we shut down Broadway”

and

“would you tell me you're here with me still

Musically, “If Angels Lived In Nashville” gives listeners a dreamy soundscape. The incorporation of strings and a slower tempo style of drums into the instrumentation complements Feeney's vocals in a way that places her vocals and lyrics at the forefront of the song, encapsulating listeners in an intimate atmosphere. The instrumentation during the bridge of the song picks up in tempo giving it a more intense feel correlating with the song's lyrics. The bridge of the song acts as the climax of the story. At this moment the loved one is leaving again but ending optimistically with the lyrics,

You'd tell me you're never far and not to have a heavy heart

‘Cause you’ll be there at my next show”

Feeney ends “If Angels Lived In Nashville” with the acknowledgment that if she did get to see them again she would still have questions and still miss them. This song is a beautifully written piece that hits deep and lingers in the heart. “If Angels Lived In Nashville” is a testament to the hope that the love and connection shared with someone lost never truly fades.
