Brett Sheroky: “Happy New Year (Stripped)”

BRETT SHEROKY

RELEASED HEARTFELT HOLIDAY SINGLE

“Happy New Year (Stripped)”

Brett Sheroky’s new single, “Happy New Year (Stripped),” offers a refreshingly raw and emotional perspective on the widely celebrated New Year’s holiday. While most holiday-themed music leans into joyous celebrations and optimistic resolutions, Sheroky takes a more introspective approach, highlighting the deep regret and heartache of a recent breakup. Stripped down to just acoustic piano and Sheroky’s heartfelt solo vocals, the track captures the raw emotion of someone reflecting on the past year with a heavy heart and a lingering sense of “What if?”. The simplicity of the arrangement allows his poignant lyrics to take center stage, resonating deeply with anyone who has experienced loss or regret during what’s often a season of new beginnings.

Sheroky’s ability to connect emotionally with listeners is rooted in his passion for the craft of songwriting. Having penned songs for major country artists like Blake Shelton, Jake Owen, and Matt Stell, Sheroky is no stranger to creating music that speaks to the human condition. But with the upcoming release of his debut album, set for April 2025, Sheroky is stepping into the spotlight as an artist in his own right. His sound blends the nostalgia of 90s country with the soul of 70s rock, striking a balance that feels both timeless and refreshingly unique. “Happy New Year (Stripped)” exemplifies this balance, as its retro-inspired country sound is infused with modern elements, making it relatable across generations.

The song paints a vivid picture of solitude and regret, with imagery of someone gazing out the window at Times Square while the world around them celebrates. The haunting metaphor of “dropping the ball” echoes not just the iconic New Year’s Eve moment but also the personal mistakes and missed opportunities that weigh heavily on the narrator’s heart. “I hope this song gives fans a welcomed, ‘something different’ in terms of the music that usually gets played around the holidays,” Sheroky shares. And he delivers exactly that—a song that isn’t afraid to delve into the bittersweet complexities of human emotion, offering solace to those who may find the holiday season difficult.

“Happy New Year (Stripped)” is not only a standout track for its emotive storytelling but also a bold statement of Sheroky’s artistry. It’s a perfect example of how he seamlessly blends heartfelt lyrics with a sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh. As fans anticipate his debut album, this single sets the tone for what’s to come—a body of work that promises to reflect Sheroky’s deep connection to the craft of songwriting and his unique ability to speak directly to the soul. For anyone looking for a holiday song that breaks the mold, Brett Sheroky’s latest release is a must-listen.
